5 Places to See in and Around Ensenada
A waterfront walk, a courtyard lunch, a dramatic stretch of coast: Ensenada gives you plenty of ways to spend a day without keeping the same pace all weekend.
These five places mix city stops with trips farther afield. La Bufadora, Valle de Guadalupe and Playa La Misión need their own travel time; this is a menu of ideas, not one enormous day trip.
1. Ensenada’s Port and Waterfront

Start around the malecón and Ventana al Mar for a look at the harbor. Walk a little, watch the boats and give everyone time for that first round of photos.
It’s an easy way to get your bearings before lunch or a longer outing. If you book a boat trip, confirm the departure point and duration with the operator.
2. Plaza Santo Tomás

For a city afternoon with wine, food and a bit of browsing, head to Plaza Santo Tomás. The pedestrian setting and old winery buildings give you something to look around between stops.

3. La Bufadora

South of the city, La Bufadora trades streets for rocky coastline and a marine blowhole. Watch the water display, enjoy the ocean views and give the place time to do its thing; the spray depends on natural conditions.
Keep a separate block of time for this excursion and arrange your return transport. This isn’t a quick detour from a downtown walking route.
4. Valle de Guadalupe

Wine country deserves a slower plan. Pick a winery or restaurant you actually want to experience, make any needed reservation and leave time to enjoy the setting.
Book a driver or other suitable transport if tastings are involved. Bringing food? Ask the venue first—an outdoor table doesn’t automatically mean you can unpack your own picnic.
5. Playa La Misión

North of Ensenada, along the coastal corridor, Playa La Misión offers another reason to pull over for ocean time. Plan a beach walk or, where access and local rules allow, a picnic on dry sand.
Check current access, water-quality notices and posted flags. Conditions change, and you can enjoy a beach outing without going swimming.
Leave Some Room in the Plan
Pair the waterfront with Plaza Santo Tomás for a city outing. Give La Bufadora or wine country more space in your schedule, and consider La Misión as a separate coastal stop.
For a permitted picnic, bring a blanket, something to drink and a bag for your rubbish. Add a light layer when the breeze picks up.
